PRIVATE COACHING
Private Coaching offered
We offer several types of coaching designed to help you with your specific needs.
We start with an evaluation which is designed to help us to understand your coaching needs. During this evaluation we will assess the following:
- Gun fit
- Eye dominance
- Stance
- Gun mount
- Body position
- Your shooting goals
- Your shooting experience
- Practical shooting ability
At the end of the evaluation we will suggest a coaching plan for you. The types of coaching we offer is as follows:
- Virtual coaching using a simulator
- Coaching at a shooting range
- Shotkam
Virtual coaching using a simulator
This coaching makes use of a virtual clay target shooting simulator. The simulator projects a picture of a real range and allows the shooter to practice as if they were on a live range. Real shotguns are used, which have been deactivated, therefore allowing the shooter to practice with their competition shotgun. The simulator is classed as very accurate in comparison to the live shooting experience and is used internationally by even Olympic shooters in preparation for big competitions. We offer trap, sporting and skeet via the simulator.
Coaching at a Shooting Range
This is coaching provided on the range with real clay targets thrown and with live ammunition. Coaching is provided by our resident International Olympic Coach who has 37 years’ experience as a shooter and has an A level Coaching license from the ISSF. In addition, he has represented South Africa at several international competitions. Coaching is offered in the following disciplines:
- DTL
- Trap
- Trap1 (ABT shooting)
- NSSA Skeet
- Olympic Skeet
- Olympic Trap
- Universal Trench
- Sporting
Coaching using a ShotKam
Coaching is provided at a live shooting range, but a ShotKam is added onto the barrel of the shotgun so that shots can be recorded and played back to the shooter. The coach will use this device to explain and help rectify specific problem areas that a shooter needs to focus on.
PRIVATE COACHING
Information
- Private Lessons – at the range are one-to-one with your own personal coach at a Clay Target Shooting venue using live ammunition
- Private Lessons – virtual simulation training are one-to-one with your own personal coach at a venue of your choice, no live ammunition used.
- Group lessons – at the range are a single shooter paired with other shooters, with a maximum of 5 at any one time. This is perfect for couples, friends or families. This is also ideal for competition readiness training.
- Group lessons – virtual simulation training are a single shooter paired with other shooters, with a maximum of 5 at any one time, at a venue of your choice. This is perfect for couples, friends or families. This is also ideal for competition readiness training, no live ammunition used.
Terms for the Range Shooting
- The minimum age limit is 13 years. For children a pre-evaluation will be done free of charge prior to the first lesson to determine readiness for shooting.
- Private coaching is offered from Tuesday to Saturdays
- Advanced booking is required to secure a training slot
- No persons entering into training may have a criminal record or have been declared as unfit to possess/handle a firearm.
- No person entering into training may be dependent on drugs or have a history of mental illness or suffer from clinical depression.
- No person entering training may be under the influence of alcohol or medication which impairs your reaction awareness.
- USE retains the right to decline training for safety reasons

(For groups of 2 or more. Min of 2 hours per session, price excl clays & ammunition)
COACHING WITH THE AID OF A SHOTKAM (at the range)..…….. R1 395 for the first hour, R950 per hour thereafter
PRIVATE LESSON (virtual simulator)……………………….. R1,295 per hour (excl travel costs)
